PUCHONG, Feb 14 — The residents of Puchong Perdana who wished for a more comfortable sepak takraw court have finally become a reality with the completion of a new facility under the Projek Selangor Penyayang initiative.
State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility cum Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han said the court was built to replace the previous facility, which was unsatisfactory and no longer suitable for use.
“The new court was constructed in the Puchong Perdana area at the request of the local community. Previously, players had to use a less comfortable court,” he said when officiating at the new facility today.
Ng added that the project involved a RM150,000 allocation from the state government, which was fully utilised for the construction.
He also expressed appreciation for the approval of the allocation, emphasising the importance of the facility’s long-term maintenance.
Cooperation between local leaders and the community is crucial to ensure the court remains in good condition and can be continuously utilised.
Meanwhile, event organiser Azellan Shah, 45, said local residents greatly appreciated the new facility as it provides more opportunities to organise sporting activities.
“Next year, we plan to organise a sepak takraw clinic for schoolchildren in this area. We also hope the local community will work together to take care of the court so that it remains in good condition for long-term use,” he said.
Azellan noted that the construction is expected to strengthen the sporting spirit and foster closer ties within the local community through healthy, beneficial activities.
