SHAH ALAM, Feb 7 — The Jom Shopping programme is among the state government’s initiatives to ease the people’s cost of living burdens during festive seasons, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman.
He said the programme aims to ensure people of all segments of the community may celebrate the festivities.
According to him, for the Banting state constituency, RM160,000 has been allocated for the programme.
He added that the allocation would allow for 800 Jom Shopping vouchers, each worth RM200, to be distributed to eligible recipients.
“I’m happy to see the smiles and excitement of the people who came to Econsave Banting today, as this aid gives real meaning and cheer for Chinese New Year,” he said.
Papparaidu, who is also Banting assemblyman, said this when distributing the vouchers to Banting residents this morning.
He added that initiatives like the Jom Shopping vouchers reflect the state government’s persisting commitment to grow closer to the people and fulfil their needs.
He explained that the people’s welfare and well-being continue to be the state’s priority in formulating and implementing various targeted aid programmes.
Papparaidu also expressed his gratitude to parties involved in making the voucher distribution event a success.
