SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — The development of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) is on schedule, with progress at 6.61 per cent so far, KSSA Special Projects Management Department general manager Datuk Ruslan Abd Aziz said.

He said the project is in its first phase, involving demolition and early construction, which includes walkways to the recreational area and mosque, landscaping, and the training pitch.

“This phase also involves building a walkway to the LRT Shah Alam Stadium (station), with a large part of demolition already done.

“Developers are preparing a blueprint as it needs to undergo checks and planning permit and construction plan approvals from local authorities,” he said when met at the KSSA site here today.

Ruslan said the planning permit was approved by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) on December 29, while the construction plan approval is expected this month.

He added that soil and piling works are set to kick off in February and the entire area’s landscape would change, as the land level will be raised to mitigate flood risks.

Previously, Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, said the three-phase KSSA project is expected to be done in 2029.

Last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the Shah Alam Stadium would be transformed into the KSSA — one of the most modern sports hubs in Malaysia, equipped with a retractable pitch that would allow the field to be used for matches and as a multipurpose hall.
