SEPANG, Jan 11 — Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) councillors are determined to enhance community programmes, including conducting more frequent health screenings in their areas, as they begin their 2026-2027 term.
Pinggiran Putra zone second term councillor Yusoh Alip said he intends to introduce high-impact initiatives, such as training in communication and public speaking skills for young residents.
Yusoh, who is the first Orang Asli councillor in Selangor, said each programme is tailored to the needs and development of Orang Asli settlements under his administration.
“I will prioritise community programmes such as health screenings and communal cleaning to prevent dengue.
“Additionally, I aim to improve skills such as public speaking,” he said after the MPSepang councillor swearing-in ceremony for the 2026–2027 term here yesterday.
Yusoh is also focused on the recurring flash flood problem in Kampung Limau Manis.
Meanwhile, Taman Mas zone councillor Mohd Nazri Sohot said his priorities for this year are managing floods and resolving community complaints without delay.
“This is my third term in this area. There are fewer problems because when an issue arises, we try to address it immediately.
“Our focus regarding floods is to ensure that the embankments along the areas bordering Sungai Klang are reinforced promptly, because every time it rains, we worry they might give way,” he said.
Desa Putra Zone councillor Hazimun Rahman Mohammad said the town of Dengkil, which is over 100 years old, has the potential to become a tourist attraction similar to Georgetown and Ipoh.
He aims to transform the area into a tourist destination, generating economic growth for the local community.
A total of 24 MPSepang members were appointed for the 2026-2027 term, serving from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027.
