SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — Three motions approved at the 2025/2026 Selangor Women’s Assembly (Siwanis) will be elevated to higher levels to ensure they can be implemented as effectively as possible.
They include establishing an Integrated Al-Quran & Fardu Ain (Kafa) School specifically for disabled children, strengthening flexible working arrangements, and reinforcing the care economy infrastructure to support the ‘sandwich generation’.
State executive councillor for women’s empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said that all debated motions would be further examined following high-quality deliberations by delegates, which in turn added value to the state’s development.
“To establish a Kafa School specifically for special needs children, the proposal will be submitted to the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, as it falls within their decided jurisdiction.
“As for the motion on flexible working arrangements, it is already being implemented and will be submitted to Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, as we intend to expand this initiative to subsidiaries, GLCs, and positions under state administration,” she said after officiating the closing of the Siwanis cohort today.
Siwanis is a simulation programme of the State Legislative Assembly that brings women together on a single platform to hone leadership capabilities and uncover women’s talents, particularly in the policy-making process.
Organised since 2023, it has brought together 56 women delegates from across Selangor as well as invited representatives from outside the state, thereby expanding women’s participation in political leadership and enhancing awareness of the need for current knowledge.
