SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim wants more raids on illegal factories this year.
He said he also wants to fight the “do first, register later” culture rampant among operators who set up factories without approval.
“This isn’t a question of demolishing buildings, but demolishing the ‘do first, register later’ culture. Enforcement operations aren’t done on a whim. Owners would’ve been given chances, (including) Notice 7A,” he told Media Selangor, adding that over 50 illegal factories were torn down last year.
In a written reply at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly between July 7 and 18 last year, which referred to data up to October 2024, there were 6,690 illegal factories in the state, involving 5,352 land ownership rights issues.
The breakdown of illegal factories by local council jurisdiction area is as follows:

Meanwhile, Ng expressed a desire to intensify efforts to draw tourists to the country, with 6.4 million tourist arrivals logged up to September.
“That figure shows a positive trend, and I’m confident the target of eight million tourists for Visit Selangor Year 2025 can be achieved.
“... The aggressive promotion for ‘Surprising Selangor!’ is showing results. The Visit Selangor Year campaign will continue into 2026 in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026,” Ng said.
