SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — Seven hundred micro-entrepreneurs in Selangor have received Platform Selangor point-of-sales (POSPLATS) equipment to boost the digitalisation of community businesses and micro-enterprises, said Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.

He said each entrepreneur who joined the U-PLATS Digital programme was given a set of the equipment to facilitate systematic transactions, sales, and business purchases.

“This (equipment) would allow them to record their payments, manage daily sales transactions, order inventory, and control raw material purchases more efficiently, systematically, and transparently,” he added.

He explained that the use of the technology directly improves operational management capabilities, sales transactions, and business finances in a more orderly and digital-based way.

“This initiative isn’t just a handover of equipment, but a strategic investment to allow small-time traders to manage business operations and financials in a more professional and data-based manner,” he told Media Selangor after a ceremony to present POSPLATS equipment to micro-entrepreneurs at Bangunan Darul Ehsan here today.

According to Azri, POSPLATS is complemented by BIZAPP to support digital business management more comprehensively, including with financial records storage, business performance surveys, and real-time sales analyses.

“As an added value, recipients were given free SIM cards with (Data Internet Selangor) for a year, specifically for business use, which helps lower operation costs and expedite digitalisation among micro-entrepreneurs,” he said.

He added that the programme also focuses on the participation of entrepreneurs with disabilities (OKU) through a strategic collaboration with SAY LEAD to ensure fairer, more inclusive digital access.

“These are the additions we are giving OKU entrepreneurs in the SAY LEAD programme, as SAY (Selangor Youth Community) is our strategic partner for the implementation of U-PLATS Digital.

“This programme, now in its second year, proves the Selangor government’s continuous commitment to build a sustainable, competitive and technology-centred digital entrepreneurship ecosystem,” Azri said.

During the ceremony, 10 OKU entrepreneurs and recipients from the Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB) were the first group to receive POSPLATS equipment.
