SHAH ALAM, Dec 19 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), in collaboration with Malaysia Airports Niaga, has launched a plastic-free initiative at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to reduce the use of single-use plastics.
According to MPSepang’s Facebook page, as the country’s main gateway, KLIA not only functions as a major aviation hub but also reflects Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability on the international stage.
“This effort towards a plastic-free environment requires consistent collaboration among local authorities, airport management, and users. KLIA should set an example for sustainable practices in large public spaces,” the statement read.
The programme was officiated by MPSepang president Ani Ahmad, together with Malaysia Airports Niaga general manager Md Fadzwin Abdul Rahim, with the presence of MPSepang council member Teo Lian Seng and senior officials from various departments and units of MPSepang.
MPSepang hopes the initiative will foster responsible environmental practices within the airport community, positioning KLIA as a clean, safe, and sustainable airport.
