KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — The flood situation in four states continued to show improvement, with Selangor, Perak, Perlis, and Pahang recording a significant drop in the number of evacuees and the closure of several temporary relief centres (PPS).

In Selangor, the number of flood victims dropped to 616 people from 187 families this afternoon, compared to 896 evacuees from 267 families this morning.

According to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) Infobencana website, nine PPS are still operating in Hulu Langat, Kuala Selangor, and Sabah Bernam, with Kuala Selangor having the highest number of flood victims, at 474 people sheltering in five PPS.

In Perak, the number of victims in three districts continued to drop, with 1,674 people from 509 families still placed at 12 PPS, compared to 1,947 victims from 586 families earlier today.

The Perak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat said that the Larut, Matang dan Selama (LMS) district has completely recovered from floods, with the only PPS housing 13 victims closed this afternoon.

The PPS in Hilir Perak is still housing 880 evacuees: Bagan Datuk (459 people) and Manjung (335 people).

In Perlis, the number of evacuees dropped to 20 after the closure of one PPS in Arau as of 4pm, down from 111 victims placed in two centres this morning.

According to the Perlis JPBN Secretariat, only the SK Felcra Lubuk Sireh PPS is still operating in the Padang Besar area to house victims.

The situation in Pahang has also improved, with only 14 people from two families still housed at a PPS in Kuantan this afternoon, compared to 113 victims from 30 families at five PPS this morning.

The Pahang JPBN Secretariat said that Raub has recovered from the flood, as 106 people from 29 families who had been sheltering at four PPS were allowed to return home today.
