PETALING JAYA, Nov 30 — Selangor’s first Kedai Pasar Pintu initiative is showing positive results, strengthening the economic standing of its participants while making it easier for residents to obtain daily necessities quickly and at lower prices.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the initiative has provided added value to participants who previously struggled to break out of the cycle of poverty.

“This is an opportunity for housewives, single mothers and the B40 group to generate income, helping to ease the financial burden on their families,” he said when officiating the Kedai Pasar Pintu at Desa Mentari here today.

The Kedai Pasar Pintu initiative is an effort to establish convenience stores or mini markets within People’s Housing Project (PPR) areas.

Organised by Primus Wellness with support from Yayasan Hasanah and the Finance Ministry, it is part of ongoing efforts to help residents generate income while promoting healthy lifestyles and stronger community ties.

Najwan said that the state plans to explore further collaboration with Primus Wellness to assess additional needs and expand benefits for the B40 community.

Meanwhile, Primus Wellness chief executive officer S. Selvamalar said the Kedai Pasar Pintu offers fresh vegetables and fruits, enabling residents to obtain daily supplies without travelling far.

She said direct sourcing from farmers nationwide not only ensures freshness but also allows products to be sold at lower prices compared to the regular market.

“Residents can easily access fresh supplies while participants earn profits that support their household economy. It benefits everyone involved,” she said.
