PUTRAJAYA, Nov 28 — The Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) has confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken against officers and staff of the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) following the death of a client at Batu Kurau Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (Puspen) in Perak, on March 14.

It said the action taken by the AADK Integrity Unit was in line with the agency's internal procedures, and the investigation into the complaint was carried out in accordance with subsection 27(4) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009 (Act 700).

In this regard, the EAIC has referred the head of the AADK Department to the Standing Order of the AADK Director-General, proposing improvements to Chapters D01 on the client admission process and D10 on the management of treatment, medical, and clinical rooms.

"These improvements are aimed at strengthening the management and monitoring of client health, including aspects of handling and administering medication to clients admitted to the rehabilitation centre," it said in a statement today.

The EAIC also recommended implementing comprehensive inspections at all Puspens to monitor task implementation, identify operational issues, and ensure continued compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

It also outlined the need to enhance training on SOPs, guidelines, policies, standing orders, service, enforcement, and operational procedures through the implementation of periodic courses and refresher courses for all Puspen staff.
