SHAH ALAM, Nov 26 — Three monitoring stations in Selangor recorded water levels exceeding the danger mark as at 9am today, showed the Irrigation and Drainage Department’s (JPS) Info Banjir website.

The site showed the three stations were SKC Bridge in Hulu Selangor, which registered a water level of 19.64m; Ijok water gate in Kuala Selangor (4.2m); and Pekan Meru in Klang (4.4m).

Two other stations in Rantau Panjang, Klang and Kampung Asahan, Kuala Selangor were at the alert mark, with water levels at 7.4m and 3.52m, respectively.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Info Bencana website, the number of temporary relief centres (PPS) statewide remained at 23, although the number of victims has increased by 0.13 per cent.

Kuala Selangor recorded the highest number of victims, with 1,741 people sheltering at nine PPS, followed by Klang with four PPS, Shah Alam and Sabak Bernam with three each, Hulu Langat with two, and Hulu Selangor and Sepang with one each.

The state government had previously instructed agencies to be prepared for the northeast monsoon, including in terms of logistics and emergency response.

Residents are urged to be alert to weather warnings and follow updates on official channels.
