SHAH ALAM, Nov 24 — More than 1,000 flood victims are currently housed at 14 temporary relief centres (PPS) across Selangor following continuous rainfall since last night.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government will announce assistance for the victims tomorrow, including a special flood management briefing to ensure more coordinated action on the ground.

“Tomorrow, we will announce the assistance and support for flood victims after reviewing the latest developments. State executive councillors (excos) will also be visiting the PPS tonight.

“We will also hold a special briefing tomorrow on how we will manage the floods, and please inform us if anything is needed,” he said when delivering the adjournment speech during the State Legislative Assembly session today.

Earlier, Amirudin said the state government was closely monitoring flood developments in several districts and had instructed excos and officers from relevant agencies to go to the ground to assist affected victims.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported that continuous rain is expected to persist until Wednesday (November 26), with a Continuous Rain Warning (Danger level) issued for Perlis, several districts in Kedah, Kelantan, and Besut in Terengganu.

A Continuous Rain Warning (Severe) has also been issued for several areas in Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, and Terengganu, while an Alert-level warning has been issued for several districts in Perak, Pahang, and Selangor.
