Selangor aims for 20,000 visitors for New Village Festival 2026

SHAH ALAM, Nov 21 — The state government aims to attract 20,000 visitors to the two-day Selangor New Village Festival 2026, 'Jom Thit Tho Lah!', which will kick off on January 24 next year, said state executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato' Ng Suee Lim.

The festival, jointly organised with Tourism Selangor, will be held at SJK(C) Pandamaran B in Klang, and is expected to draw tourists from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, as well as domestic visitors.

It aims to promote the new village legacy in the state, blending cultural and tourism elements with an engaging, play-based experience.

He said it will feature the ‘Memang Seronok’ (Absolutely Fun) concept across six main zones, namely, Jom Jalan, Jom Makan, Jom Beli, Jom Main, Jom Snap Bersama, and Jom Reka, to celebrate the unique identities of Selangor’s 77 new village communities.

“The aim is to immerse visitors in the village life through a five-senses experience, encouraging them to rediscover and appreciate local culture and identity.

“With a curatorial approach of entering the village to experience it firsthand, the festival offers visitors the opportunity to participate, capture and take home authentic cultural experiences,” he said during the press conference for the Selangor New Village Festival 2026 at the State Secretariat Building's lobby today.

Also present was Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling.

Ng added that the festival will also feature exclusive promotions from travel agencies in support of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
