Transport Ministry receives RM1m logistics development grant from China's CRRC

PUTRAJAYA, Nov 12 — The Transport Ministry (MOT) has received a RM1 million logistics development grant from the China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation under the government’s industrial collaboration programme (ICP).

The Finance Ministry's agency, the Technology Depository Agency, said the grant, allocated to the National Logistics Centre, supports capacity-building and digital transformation in Malaysia’s logistics sector.

“The key initiatives under the grant include certifying 18 MOT officers as members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, developing the national freight data framework, and digitalising MOT’s database system with artificial intelligence technology.

“These efforts aim to boost data-driven governance, strengthen workforce skills, and advance digitalisation in Malaysia’s logistics and transport sector,” it said in a statement today.

The funding is administered via the Technology Depository Agency, which manages and implements ICPs to ensure that major procurements deliver national value and create economic, technological, and human capital benefits.

The grant handover ceremony, held yesterday in conjunction with Transport Expo Asia 2025, marked the first ICP-driven initiative by the MOT in the logistics sector. Transport Minister Anthony Loke witnessed the handover.

The agency also presented the ICP Impact Analysis Report to the MOT at the same event. The report outlined outcomes and value achieved across the transport sector from 2015 to 2025.

It highlighted the completion of 129 ICP projects under the MOT’s procurements, including rail, aerospace, information and communications technology, and construction.

The agency said these initiatives support technology transfer, technical training, certification, and enhance competitiveness among local companies in the global supply chain.

“As the national ICP implementor, the Technology Depository Agency remains committed to ensuring every government procurement delivers sustainable value, builds national capability, and creates cross-sectoral impact,” it said.
