Dewan Rakyat passes Budget 2026 allocations for three ministries

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — The Dewan Rakyat has passed the allocations for the Supply Bill 2026 at the committee level for the National Unity Ministry, the Economy Ministry, and the Plantation and Commodities Ministry via a voice vote, after witnessing more voice in support than against.

The Economy Ministry received a RM2.75 billion allocation for next year, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to driving the national development agenda, especially as 2026 marks the first year of implementation for the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

Finance Minister II cum acting Economy Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said that according to the Budget 2026 Book, the development allocation for the Economy Ministry amounts to RM2.115 billion.

“This figure represents an increase of RM890.56 million (72.7 per cent) for 2026 compared to the revised allocation in 2025.

“This is because several projects have already been completed and will no longer exist in 2026,” he told the Dewan Rakyat during today’s committee-level debate and winding-up session for Budget 2026.

The Dewan Rakyat also approved a projected operating and development expenditure of RM767.99 million for the National Unity Ministry.

Under Budget 2026, themed 'Fourth Madani Budget: The People’s Budget', the Plantation and Commodities Ministry (KPK) has been allocated RM810.09 million.

Of this amount, RM477.82 million (59 per cent) is for operating expenses, while the remaining RM332.27 million (41 per cent) is for development expenditure.

Earlier, the committee-level debate session involving the three ministries featured speakers from the government, Opposition, and independent blocs, followed by the respective ministers' winding-up sessions.

The Dewan Rakyat sitting will resume tomorrow.
