KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 10 — A larger allocation will be needed next year to further strengthen the investment sector, including plans to expand the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) to be held abroad.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said the increased funding would reinforce Selangor’s position as the gateway to Asean while also focusing on other key industries such as semiconductors and aerospace.

“We are hoping for a higher allocation so that SIBS can be organised not only within Selangor or at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. It may need to go international, and we are currently reviewing this idea and the right approach to make it happen.

“The allocation for next year will also support the development of other sectors and their promotion to foreign investors. This is crucial to stimulate the state’s economy,” he told Media Selangor.

The 2026 Selangor Budget will be tabled by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari on Friday (November 14) at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.

In a Facebook post last week, he said the state government is finalising the details of next year’s expenditure plan, which aims to deliver tangible benefits to the people.

The upcoming budget will prioritise new programmes centred on education and poverty eradication to ensure the people continue to progress in tandem with Selangor's development.

The 2026 Selangor Budget is also being formulated through a comprehensive approach that balances economic growth with the welfare of its citizens.
