Controversial musician to be arrested amid probe into Taiwanese influencer’s death

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — The police will detain a controversial musician to assist in investigations into the death of a Taiwanese female influencer who was found dead at a hotel last month.

Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the case, which was initially classified as a sudden death, has now been reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code following further investigation.

“The musician was the last person to be with the victim and is now considered an important individual in the investigation. We do not rule out the possibility of detaining him soon,” he told the press today.

Fadil added that all aspects of the case are being examined, including the victim’s movements, since her arrival in Malaysia on October 20.

“The investigation is being conducted thoroughly, including recording statements from hotel staff and security personnel, as well as reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage,” he said, noting that the police are still awaiting the post-mortem and toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.

It was reported that the influencer's body was found by the musician in a hotel bathtub at 1.40 pm on October 22. The musician was later arrested for allegedly possessing and using drugs.

During a raid at 4.30pm on the same day, police seized nine blue pills believed to be Ecstasy, weighing approximately 5.12g.

The suspect was subsequently charged in the Kuala Lumpur Court on October 24.
