MPAJ launches Local Voluntary Review to achieve sustainable development by 2030

AMPANG JAYA, Nov 2 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has launched its Local Voluntary Review (VLR) to ensure development is carried out sustainably and inclusively by 2030.

Its Deputy President Hasrolnizam Shaari said the study is vital as it assesses the performance of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the local level via the Ampang Jaya SDG Roadmap 2025-2030.

“This VLR is not just a report prepared at the desk, but one based on real data, field observations, and the perspectives of various stakeholders, including the local community.

“It reflects the true state of Ampang Jaya, where we are now and where we are heading towards 2030,” he said during the launch ceremony at Taman Melawati today.

Hasrolnizam added that the launch also marks the beginning of the roadmap's implementation, which focuses on seven key strategic pillars. They include:

  1. Environmental sustainability, and climate change

  2. Mobility, green infrastructure, and low-carbon city

  3. Competitive local economic development

  4. Prosperous and inclusive community

  5. Smart and transparent governance

  6. SDG Education and literacy for all

  7. Cross-sectoral cooperation and strategic networking

Each strategic pillar will be translated into annual action plans aligned with state and national policies, including the Selangor Sustainable Development Policy, the National Physical Plan, and the National Urbanisation Policy 3 (NUP3).

“The Ampang Jaya SDG Roadmap 2025-2030 is a medium-term strategic document carefully designed to ensure MPAJ remains on track towards sustainable development by 2030,” he said.
