JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 8 — The Johor police disposed of an estimated RM43.54 million worth of case items today, involving various types of drugs and processing equipment.
State police chief CP Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said the disposal involved compact drugs weighing 651kg and 12,243.02 litres of liquid drugs.
"In total, the disposal of these case items involved 4,528 investigation papers from 2000 to 2024,” he said during a press conference at the Johor police headquarters today.
Among the drugs disposed of were heroin (57.81kg), cannabis (17.10kg), ketamine (94.39kg), methamphetamine (49.65kg), methylenedioxymethamphetamine or MDMA (105.64kg), nimetazepam (1.59kg), ketum leaves (325.38kg), yaba pills (193.14g), and vape or e-cigarette liquids (456.10g).
Rahaman added that the amount of drugs disposed of could feed the addiction of nearly 1.39 million addicts.
A scheduled waste management company at the Telok Panglima Garang disposal site in Selangor would carry out the disposal.
"It is learnt that this company uses the latest facility, namely the incinerator or the 'scheduled waste to energy’ method, which produces new energy and is more coordinated and pollution-free,” he said.
