AYG: From gymnastic floor to CDM, Farah Ann to lead national contingent in Manama

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — From dazzling crowds on the gymnastics floor to now leading the country’s next generation of athletes, Farah Ann Abdul Hadi has been appointed as the Chef de Mission (CDM) of the Malaysian contingent to the Asian Youth Games (AYG) 2025 in Manama, Bahrain, from October 22 to October 31.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) said it believes the appointment, made in collaboration with the National Sports Council, symbolises the trust placed in a young and dynamic sports leader whose illustrious career is expected to inspire Malaysia’s budding athletes.

“The OCM is very confident that Farah Ann would be able to inspire and motivate members of the Malaysian Contingent to excel at the upcoming 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025.

“With her proven leadership, inspirational career and dedication to excellence, the OCM is confident that Farah Ann Abdul Hadi will serve as a role model for the Malaysian athletes at the 3rd Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025, motivating them to give their very best and to achieve success for the nation,” it said in a statement today.

During the SEA Games, Farah made her mark with distinction, winning 12 medals, including seven gold, two silver, and three bronze, across four editions in 2011, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

The 31-year-old also represented Malaysia with pride at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, 2014, and 2018, as well as the Asian Games in 2014 and 2018.

Her illustrious career reached its pinnacle when she qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, making her only the fourth Malaysian gymnast in history to compete on the world’s biggest multi-sports event.
