Selangor proves Ummah Madani concept via balanced development

SHAH ALAM, Sept 5 — The state has demonstrated that the Ummah Madani concept is not mere rhetoric, but realised through various development initiatives that provide comprehensive benefits to the people.

Selangor State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said these efforts encompass multiple aspects, including education, the economy, and public welfare.

Among these initiatives is expanding access to higher education by establishing Universiti Selangor (Unisel) and Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (UIS).

“This stands as proof of our commitment to producing a generation of knowledgeable and virtuous individuals,” he said during the state-level 1447H/2025 Maulidur Rasul celebrations at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah today.

The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graced the celebration, accompanied by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation, Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, alongside 600 attendees.

Earlier, His Royal Highness also presented the Selangor Maulidur Rasul Figure Award 1447H/2025M to Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah's former Grand Imam Syeikhul Maqari’ Othman Hamzah.

Fadzli added that in economic terms, Selangor continues to serve as the nation’s industrial hub, with industrial centres in Shah Alam, Klang, and Sepang, not only creating employment opportunities but also positioning the state as an international investment gateway.

“In addition, the state government strengthens the people’s well-being with initiatives like Rumah Selangorku, the Smart Selangor Bus, as well as welfare assistance programmes addressing the needs of the B40 group through Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP).

“In safeguarding environmental sustainability, Selangor has also advanced efforts in river conservation, water catchment protection, and green space preservation as a legacy for future generations, in line with the Maqasid Syariah principle of protecting life and ensuring survival.

“It is therefore clear that building a Ummah Madani requires us all to join forces. Selangor will continue to thrive if we emulate the example of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, uphold integrity, strengthen unity, and embody noble character in every aspect of life,” he said.
