SHAH ALAM, Sept 4 — A total of RM4 billion has been allocated for flood mitigation projects in Selangor, said state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim.

The funding comprises RM3.5 billion from the Federal government and RM500 million from the state government.

“I have visited every local authority to identify the causes of frequent flooding as well as to obtain feedback on incomplete projects.

“We are assessing each project one by one to ensure approval is given so that this flood issue can be resolved promptly,” he said after officiating the workshop to review the Integrated Management Plan for the Langat, Selangor, and Klang River Basins 2022-2030 today.

In May, Izham held his first meeting with the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) to discuss flood mitigation efforts in the area.

As a result of the discussions, 17 projects were identified as needing urgent implementation in 13 flood-prone areas, including Meru and Pandamaran.

The councillor also said that his office will hold a meeting with the Sepang Municipal Council in the near future to address the issue.

“I have already visited Klang, Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Kuala Selangor, Kajang, and Selayang. Next, I will head to Sepang to ensure that flood mitigation measures are expedited,” he said.
