KUALA LANGAT, Aug 30 — More than 81,000 entrepreneurs in Selangor have benefited from financing under the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun), amounting to RM4.9 billion to date.
Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri and the Prime Minister's wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said that between January and July of this year alone, 2,684 entrepreneurs in the state were assisted with financing worth RM66 million.
“These figures prove that Tekun continues to play an important role in stimulating economic growth among the people and supporting the expansion of businesses across various sectors,” she said.
Dr Wan Azizah was delivering her speech at the Kaseh Keusahawanan Aspirasi Wanita programme's opening ceremony at Dataran Pantai Morib yesterday.
She added that nationwide, over 602,000 entrepreneurs have benefited from Tekun's financing schemes, with a total value of RM10.5 billion.
“In Selangor alone, more than 81,000 entrepreneurs have received financing assistance, including nearly half a million women entrepreneurs who have succeeded in strengthening their economic standing,” Dr Wan Azizah said.
At the same event, 11 Selangor Tekun entrepreneurs also received financing totalling RM449,000 as encouragement to develop their businesses further.
