SUBANG JAYA, Aug 29 — A male Form Three student who fell from the hostel of a school in Sabak Bernam has shown a positive response, said state executive councillor for women’s development and social welfare Anfaal Saari.
She said the student had begun moving his legs, compared to previously, when he was unconscious and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
“When I visited earlier, the student’s mother informed me that for the first time her son had moved his legs. This is a positive response, and we hope for his speedy recovery.
“At present, the police investigations are still ongoing, and they are waiting for the student to regain full consciousness to obtain further information. The District Education Office is also gathering more details on all aspects, including the facilities,” Anfaal said.
She was speaking to the press officiating the closing ceremony of the Gender Outlook Forum 2025 today, which brought together 200 participants from government agencies, the private sector, and academia.
Earlier, the police confirmed receiving a report on the incident involving the student who was reported to have fallen from the third floor of a school hostel in Sabak Bernam.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said a case file had been opened under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
The case is being investigated from various angles, including student safety, hostel management, and the social background of the victim and his peers.
He added that police were now gathering statements from witnesses and related individuals to determine the incident's cause.
