SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — The Kita Selangor book voucher previously only for university students has been expanded to include Form 6 students, announced Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the RM200 voucher will be distributed soon so students may buy reference books.
“We will calculate the number of Form 6 students in Selangor who are eligible, the data will be released soon. The application mechanism will be announced by the end of October.
“Previously, we targeted undergraduates, but there is a need to expand to Form 6 students as they will eventually enrol in university. They deserve the opportunity to better prepare for campus life,” he said during a ceremony to present back-to-school aid to Form 6 students at Kolej Tingkatan Enam Shah Alam.
This year, the state government through Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, allocated RM200,000 for the Kita Selangor book e-vouchers, benefiting 1,000 public and private higher learning students.
Amirudin said his administration also introduced an excellence incentive for outstanding Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) holders.
“For a start, this year, 15 top performers received RM1,000 each. Next year, we plan to choose between 15 and 20 of the best students.
“We already have allocations, but for next year, we will need to review how much funding is required. The allocation will be included in the upcoming state budget,” Amirudin added.
