JEDDAH, Aug 15 — The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned Israel’s approval of a plan to build 3,400 new settlement units in the West Bank, including in occupied Jerusalem, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
It reaffirmed that Israeli occupation and colonial settlement are illegal under international law, United Nations (UN) resolutions, and the International Court of Justice advisory opinion, and must be ended immediately.
The OIC warned that Israel’s ongoing policies of aggression, settlement, destruction, displacement, and blockade are systematic crimes that violate the rights of the Palestinian people, undermine the two-state solution, entrench annexation plans, and attempt to impose Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.
It called on the international community to assume its responsibilities by putting an end to these crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power, holding it accountable, and imposing sanctions in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
