Rafizi reveals wife received threatening messages

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli revealed that his wife received threats this morning following an incident involving his son yesterday, who was injected by an unknown individual, and that the case is currently being investigated by police.

The threats were received by his wife at 1.12am and 11.02am today, each containing the threat to ‘keep quiet, if you continue, you will get AIDS’ with a syringe emoji, from the same phone number.

"I think these (threats to family members) will continue because, in my opinion, the strategic message is that because I am not afraid of summons.

"I have been through summons cases, I have been through the lockup, I have lost my position or whatever, I do not care, right?

"So I think those involved feel it might be easier to influence my decision if it is through my wife," he said at a press conference in Parliament today.

Giving an update on his son's latest situation, Rafizi said initial examinations at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Hospital showed no side effects in the first 24 hours, thus giving confidence to rule out the possibility of an injection in the form of drugs or poison.

However, regular blood tests for six months should be done to ensure there are no viral infections such as hepatitis or HIV, since only follow-up tests can provide full confirmation.

He said the injection could possibly contain drugs or poison, be in the form of a virus, or just liquid, but without the syringe that the suspect took away, its contents could not be identified immediately.

Yesterday, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the incident was believed to have occurred at 2pm at the passenger pick-up and drop-off area when the victim, a boy, was reported to be with his mother and their driver.
