KLANG, Aug 13 — The state government has allocated RM26.624 million this year for a school assistance programme specifically aimed at repairing school infrastructure.
The funds, handed over by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, will benefit 873 schools across seven categories, including People’s Religious Schools (SAR).
He noted that the amount has increased compared to last year, ensuring students enjoy more comfortable and conducive educational facilities.
“This year, we have increased the allocation slightly to ensure schools are equipped with good infrastructure and a positive learning environment. This effort is not only to ensure schools are in good condition, but also for the sake of future generations.
“It is not easy, as there are many other issues like school overcrowding and lack of facilities, but I believe that by working together as one team, we can find the best solutions.
“With the unity and strong understanding of the teaching community, we can develop the state’s educational institutions into the best centres of learning,” Amirudin said during the handover ceremony today.
Of the total, SARs will receive RM11 million, Chinese vernacular schools RM6 million, Tamil vernacular schools RM5 million, and Chinese private secondary schools RM2 million.

The Menteri Besar added that the state government's focus is not limited to physical infrastructure, but also includes student development programmes.
“In addition to the allocation, we also implement other initiatives such as the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme (PTRS) and the organisation of marching drills to strengthen students’ personal values and discipline.
“In fact, this initiative benefits not only students in Selangor, but also those in other states like Kelantan and Perak, which use the PTRS modules free of charge.
“All these efforts are aimed at developing the state through education, knowledge, and information, so that students receive the right guidance,” he said.
Meanwhile, SRA representative Afzainizam Miskan said his school would use the funds received to repair the infrastructure at Kafa Integrasi Salehuddin Panchang Bedena in Sabak Bernam.
“This RM20,000 will be used to repair the roof and toilets, as well as upgrade the wiring system.
“Previously, we faced constraints in repairing school facilities, but with this assistance, we will make the best use of it for the students’ learning and comfort,” he said.
