PUTRAJAYA, Aug 10 — The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has stressed there will be no change in the categories of vehicles subject to tolls, including the exemption for motorcyclists.
This comes in response to a viral post on social media by ebidmotor.com yesterday, alleging motorcyclists would have to pay tolls from October.
LLM denied the claim today and warned such misinformation could alarm road users and harm the reputation of the government, the Works Ministry, LLM, and highway concessionaires.
“For the public’s information, PLUS Malaysia Bhd is testing an open toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
“If the tests are successful, the system will be rolled out in stages across highways operated by PLUS Malaysia Bhd,” it said, adding that the aim is to improve traffic flow, enhance user convenience, and reduce congestion at toll plazas.
LLM urged the public, especially toll highway users, not to believe or spread unverified claims and to rely only on official updates from authorities.
