SUBANG JAYA, Aug 2 — Selangor is targeting the construction of 200,000 affordable housing units by 2028, in support of the federal government’s aspiration to build one million such homes nationwide.

State executive councillor for housing Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said as of today, over 76,000 units have already been completed in the state, helping residents own comfortable homes at affordable prices.

“We are responding to the prime minister’s call in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) to build one million affordable homes by 2035.

“So far in Selangor, we’ve built over 76,000 units, and I’m confident we can achieve our target within the remaining three years,” he told reporters today.

Earlier, Borhan officiated the handover ceremony of principal payment refunds to buyers of Rumah Selangorku Residensi Jaya in Seri Kembangan.

Also present were Selangor Housing and Property Board deputy executive director Mohd Hafiz Hassan and Seri Kembangan assemblyman Wong Siew Ki.

During the tabling of the 13MP on Thursday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the target of building one million affordable homes over 10 years, from 2026 to 2035.

The initiative will be implemented through various existing programmes, including Residensi Madani, the Public Servants Housing Scheme, the New Home Construction Assistance Programme, and the Affordable Housing Programme.
