KLANG, Aug 2 — The owner of Kopi Opu has seen her sales nearly double after joining a Platform Selangor (PLATS) initiative that helped enhance her business performance.

According to Kartinie Ramli, participating in the PLATS Entrepreneur Development Training (U-PLATS) Digital programme in 2023 opened new opportunities to develop her business in a more structured and modern way.

Within four months of joining U-PLATS, she said her kiosk at Dataran Shah Alam, Section 14, managed to generate sales of up to RM60,000.

“On weekends, we used to make around RM500 to RM600 a day, but now we can earn over RM1,000 daily.

“In a month, we can bring in over RM15,000,” said Kartinie, who received the Grand Micro-Entrepreneur Award at the PLATS Awards Night (MAPS) 2025 held here last night.

She took home RM5,000 in cash, along with a trophy and a plaque presented by Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah at the ceremony, which was also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

Kartinie plans to expand her business via franchising and is currently in the process of applying for halal certification through the U-PLATS Halal programme.

“I’ve learned a lot through PLATS, including marketing, accounting, and digital sales using the point-of-sale system. It has really helped entrepreneurs streamline their work. We no longer need to record things manually."

In 2023, the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) introduced the U-PLATS programme to help entrepreneurs manage their businesses digitally, in collaboration with 12 local authorities.

The training modules include introductions to entrepreneurship, social media and e-commerce, as well as digital content creation.
