KLANG, Aug 2 — Entrepreneurs under the Platform Selangor (PLATS) initiative have recorded around RM15 million in sales transactions since last year, driven by active participation across various marketing channels and digital platforms.

Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated) Foundation chief executive officer Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the figure included RM8 million in sales recorded during the PLATS Ramadan bazaar, with the remaining amount generated through other sales platforms.

He said the success was the result of structured guidance provided under PLATS, including business digitalisation, technological support such as the point of sale (POS) system, and cashless payment platforms.

“This has helped entrepreneurs improve operational efficiency, strengthen their online presence, and expand their market reach more strategically,” he said at a press conference held in conjunction with the PLATS Awards Night (MAPS) 2025 at Wyndham Acmar here last night.

Azri said a total of 100,000 micro entrepreneurs in Selangor are targeted to join PLATS by the end of this year, up from the current 88,000.

“Initially, we projected a target of 50,000 entrepreneurs to join PLATS this year, but we’ve already surpassed that figure. Recently, the Menteri Besar (Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari) challenged us to reach 100,000.

"We have a few months to achieve this goal, and I believe with the assistance of PLATS' strategic partners, we will be able to meet the 100,000 target."

Separately, Azri said the recent visit by the Selangor delegation, led by state executive councillor for entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi, to the Osaka World Expo 2025 also helped promote PLATS entrepreneurs’ products, which received encouraging demand.

“We brought durian-flavoured candy produced by a PLATS entrepreneur, and it was well received. This shows that PLATS entrepreneurs’ products have great potential. We’re currently working with PKNS, which has an established business network, to explore entry into major supermarkets in Japan.

“In addition, we will be heading to Shanghai in November to introduce more PLATS products. There’s also strong market potential in the Middle East, not just among the locals but also due to the significant number of Malaysians working and studying there,” he said.

Previously, Amirudin said PLATS is a comprehensive ecosystem that provides local entrepreneurs with opportunities to grow through access to training, financing, and market networks.
