SHAH ALAM, July 22 — The Selangor Malaysian Games (Sukma) 2026 will be held August 15 to 24 next year, with the opening ceremony at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari added that the Sukma 2026 Managing Committee decided that the Para Sukma will be held September 5 to 14 next year.
“Twenty-eight mandatory sporting events and five additional ones will be contested. The opening ceremony will be held at the SIC while the closing ceremony is set for the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium.
“The launch of the logo, mascot and theme will be held August 15 this year at Dewan Raja Muda Musa, Seksyen 7, Shah Alam, in conjunction with the start of the countdown to the sporting event,” Amirudin said after chairing the Sukma committee meeting here today.

Amirudin said Sukma 2026 involves sporting facilities across Selangor’s nine districts, under 12 local councils, except for track cycling which will be held at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.
Over 10,000 athletes and sporting officials from 15 states and territories, including a contingent from Brunei, will join the biennial sporting event.
When asked if the Selangor contingent will receive additional funding, Amirudin said it would depend on feedback from the State Sports Council.
“As host, the Selangor contingent has a great responsibility to ensure a successful (Sukma) and )the contingent’s) excellent achievements in all events.
“Of course, they must work hard to repeat their victories of 2006, 2013, and 2016. Selangor has also consistently been in the top five (in previous editions of Sukma),” Amirudin said.
