PUTRAJAYA, July 18 — The government will give due consideration to the nomination of conservative commentator and writer Nick Adams as United States ambassador to Malaysia, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the appointment must undergo due process, and that it is too early to say anything more.
Anwar added that the process will take into account the strong Malaysia-US bilateral relations.
“The government will of course give it due consideration while also maintaining the good relations between Malaysia and the US,” he told reporters after Friday prayers at Surau Istiqlal here today.
International media previously reported that US President Donald Trump had nominated Adams — a naturalised, Australia-born conservative political commentator — as US ambassador to Malaysia.
The US Senate has yet to confirm Adams’ appointment.
