SHAH ALAM, July 17 — The state government has expressed its appreciation for Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, whose term as top cop will end soon,
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari wished Hussein the best in his new role as Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director.
“On behalf of the state government, I express the highest appreciation for his excellent service as Selangor police chief.
“A close cooperation was forged between the state administration and police throughout the over two years he (Hussein) served in Selangor, especially in the management of major incidents such as the plane crash in Elmina and pipe explosion in Putra Heights,” Amirudin posted on Facebook.

Amirudin said he is sure that Hussein’s vast experience, including the latter's involvement in the MH17 forensics team, will benefit his new department.
“As today, July 17, marks the 11th anniversary of the heartbreaking tragedy where MH17 was shot down, I recalled a story that Datuk Hussein had told me. He was one of the cops involved in the forensics team sent to the crash site to assist victim identification then,” the menteri besar said.
On June 20, the Royal Malaysia Police announced Hussein’s transfer to the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, effective July 21.
