SHAH ALAM, July 8 — The repair and rebuilding of houses affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion will be completed by June 2027, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
He said RM40 million was approved by the Cabinet for this purpose, with an additional RM6 million to restore public infrastructure.
“For the reconstruction and repair of homes in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd expects the process to be completed by October 2025.
“As for Taman Putra Harmoni, which is being rebuilt by Sime Darby Property, (the company) has been given a timeframe of up to 24 months, with completion expected by June 2027,” he said when tabling a special motion to debate the Putra Heights blast here today.
He said Sime Darby Property was appointed to lead rebuilding efforts in Taman Putra Harmoni as it is the master developer.
Works began May 1.

Amirudin said 81 units in Putra Heights were destroyed (structural damage of over 40 per cent) and require rebuilding. Another 138 units were partially damaged (structural damage under 40 per cent).
Destroyed homes have been allocated a maximum repair cost of RM300,000, while the costs to repair damaged homes were capped at RM150,000.
Another 57 homes that require minor repairs will receive up to RM30,000 each based on Public Works Department specifications.
However, Amirudin said, the state government will propose that the Housing and Local Government Ministry double the amount to RM60,000.
He said rebuilding efforts are ahead of schedule, with progress at between 22 per cent and 24 per cent.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government has tasked the Subang Jaya City Council with facilitating residents’ claims for home repairs.
“For Taman Putra Harmoni, RM458,440.50 has been disbursed to the residents, while residents of Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru have filed claims amounting to RM884,934.
“Residents have been given until October 27, 2025, to submit their claim documents,” he said.
Amirudin added that the state government has provided RM6,000 per family in rental aid for three months to 455 households, amounting to RM2.73 million. Additional rental aid for residents who have yet to go home is being decided.
Free reissuance of land grants was also offered to those whose documents were lost in the incident.
Amirudin also said state leaders and civil servants have raised an estimated RM102,050 to support affected communities, adding that 265 students received RM500 in initial aid from Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI.
