SHAH ALAM, July 8 — The state government will review guidelines on foreign traders to ensure their presence does not disrupt local business investments, said state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He told the Selangor State Legislative Assembly that a meeting will be held soon with traders’ groups to gather views and feedback on the matter.
“Through this engagement, we can review existing guidelines and determine whether additional conditions are necessary to ensure business investments do not disrupt the local market.
“We have been supporting local traders via various training programmes, including those focused on social media, to help them expand their market reach,” he said at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here today.
Ng was responding to a supplementary question from Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat about foreign visitors allegedly abusing tourist visas to conduct business in the state.
He said the state government will keep prioritising balanced economic growth by supporting foreign investment without compromising the local business sector.
“The state government also ensures all incoming and approved investments in Selangor prioritise high-impact sectors and contribute to enhancing the quality of the local job market,” he said.
