SUNGAI PETANI, July 6 — The wife of a 34-year-old man who was shot dead during a shootout with police in Bandar Puteri Jaya last night has been remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation.

Kuala Muda police chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the woman, in her 20s, was arrested at the couple’s rented home located nearby.

“A search was conducted at the premises, and we seized a pistol. The remand order is effective from today until July 12,” he told the press at the Kuala Muda district police headquarters.

The man was killed at around 7.50pm after reportedly opening fire on police during an operation in Bandar Puteri Jaya.

Previously, Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus said the suspect was believed to be involved in criminal activities and had possible links to two men shot dead in Jitra yesterday morning.
