SHAH ALAM, June 29 — Selangor continues to expand its economic and cultural outreach on the international stage through its official participation in the Malaysia Fair Osaka 2025 at Lalaport Expocity in Japan.

The three-day programme, which ends today, marks the first edition of the Malaysia Fair to be held outside of Tokyo, and is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors, including members of the Japanese public, industry players, and international delegates.

State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said this participation highlights Selangor's strengths across various sectors, including tourism, culture, and the digitalisation of micro-enterprises via the Selangor Platform (PLATS).

“This platform not only promotes local products, but also proves Selangor’s capability as a leader in Malaysia’s digital economic transformation,” he said.

The Selangor Pavilion also welcomed a visit from Malaysia’s Ambassador to Japan Datuk Shahril Effendi Abd Ghany, who described the state’s proactive approach as a timely step in strengthening bilateral economic ties and investment diplomacy.

Malaysia Fair Osaka 2025 is organised by the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, in collaboration with various Malaysian government agencies based in Japan.

The event also serves as a catalyst for the Business Acceleration — World Expo Osaka 2025 programme, paving the way for local entrepreneurs and industry players to penetrate the Japanese and East Asian markets.
