SHAH ALAM, June 16 — The Selangor State Development Corporation’s (PKNS) has announced a strategic collaboration via a memorandum of understanding with the Shah Alam City Council for the development of Shah Alam (SA) Sentral.

PKNS group CEO Dato’ Mahmud Abbas said the collaboration will facilitate both parties’ efforts to rejuvenate Shah Alam as a hi-tech and green carbon city.

“The 130-acre development in Sections 13 and 14 will be completed in 2031. This collaboration will make Shah Alam an iconic city that draws investment and drives local economies.

“The transit-oriented development concept in Section 13 focuses on modern residences, recreation, and F&B, while a senior citizens’ home will be built in Section 14,” he said after the MOU signing ceremony at the SA Sentral Gallery here today.

Mahmud said the Shah Alam PKNS Complex will be upgraded to drive business and economic activity, which is part of the SA Sentral development plan.

“It won’t be demolished or moved, but upgraded according to the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) redevelopment concept, focusing on facilities and parking amenities.

“Plaza Perangsang will also be redeveloped as a hotel centre, and PKNS will sign a deal with operator Grand Mecure soon,” he added.

The SA Sentral project was launched on September 7 last year to make Shah Alam a business centre capable of competing with Kuala Lumpur, with a gross development value of RM3 billion.

The high-impact project involves the development components of Plaza Alam Sentral, SACC Mall, SACC Walk, and PKNS Complex.
