Overall, it said China's total goods imports and exports in yuan-denominated terms expanded 2.5 per cent year-on-year to CN¥17.94 trillion (US$2.5 trillion) in the first five months, reflecting the resilience of foreign trade despite external headwinds.
The country's total exports rose 7.2 per cent year-on-year to CN¥10.67 trillion, while imports slid 3.8 per cent year-on-year to CN¥7.27 trillion between January and May this year.
