GOMBAK, June 8 — Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari has chosen to perform the Hari Raya Aidiladha korban this year in strata housing areas as a means of reaching out to lower-income groups.

He said this aligns with the state government’s commitment to ensuring no group is left behind in terms of development and assistance, including the strata community.

“This year’s Aidiladha theme is about engaging with the strata community, particularly in the Gombak area. Previously, korban programmes were primarily held in villages and conventional housing estates.

“However, apartment residents also deserve attention. They face unique challenges, including maintenance issues, basic amenities, and the need for social support.

"This approach enables us to be on the ground, understand their problems, and help address them,” Amirudin said.

He was speaking to the press after attending the Qurban Strata Gombak programme at Pangsapuri Selayang Sejati yesterday, where he also mingled with and had lunch alongside over 150 residents.

On June 1, the Menteri Besar distributed 103 sacrificial cows to three state constituencies within the Gombak Parliamentary area: Sungai Tua, Gombak Setia, and Hulu Kelang.

The distribution involved the strata community, Village Management and Administrative Committees, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), community clubs, and local suraus in the areas.

In a related development, Amirudin said the state government is focusing on resolving strata ownership issues over the next three years, in line with its commitment to improving the living standards of apartment residents.

“We will also increase the allocation for Skim Ceria next year so more residences can be repaired. The demand for maintenance assistance is growing, and we want to ensure that support is sufficient,” he said.

Skim Ceria is a state government initiative aimed at assisting in the repair of shared property damage in low- and medium-cost apartments through cost-sharing between the government and residents.

Last year, the state government allocated RM7 million for repair works on ageing apartments, monitored by the Selangor Housing and Property Board (LPHS).
