SHAH ALAM, June 3 — Selangor and Ghana’s Volta Region are forging strategic ties to enhance knowledge exchange in key areas such as port development and sustainable growth in agriculture.

In a Facebook post, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said these matters were discussed when he received a courtesy visit by Ghana’s Volta Region Minister James Gunu today.

“We explored opportunities for knowledge transfer, especially as Volta develops the Keta Port, Ghana’s third commercial port, which reflects Selangor’s own Carey Island port project, with both set to drive regional trade and economic growth.

“We also had a valuable exchange between two regions with shared tropical climates and common ambitions in agriculture and aquaculture,” he said.

Amirudin said that during the meeting, he shared the state’s key initiatives including its long-term strategies under the First Selangor Plan and Second Selangor Plan, as well as the ongoing Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign.

The state also presented its expanding business parks, the newly launched Google Cloud Data Centre in Selangor and the Selangor International Business Summit to the Ghanaian delegates.

“We also listened to insightful presentations from Invest Selangor Bhd and Tourism Selangor, while gaining valuable input from Volta on their kenaf initiatives.

“Selangor warmly welcomes every opportunity to forge meaningful collaborations that drive business growth, strengthen partnerships, and create lasting prosperity for our people and the wider region,” Amirudin added.
