Selangor allocates RM50,000 for each Orang Asli village development

GOMBAK, May 30 — A total of RM50,000 has been allocated for infrastructure and social development programmes in each Orang Asli village across the state.

State executive councillor for Orang Asli affairs V. Papparaidu said funding applications can be made by the respective Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK), represented by the appointed village head or tok batin

“Presently, the state government is assisting in connecting electricity supply in several areas that currently rely on solar-powered lighting.

“Selangor is committed to improving the well-being of the Orang Asli community. In addition, upgrading works for other facilities such as roads and lighting are also actively underway, particularly in remote areas," he said following a working visit to the Gombak Orang Asli Hospital.

Papparaidu handed over cash contributions to 33 patients currently receiving treatment.

He added that among other initiatives for the Orang Asli community is a RM10,000 allocation for organising community social programmes.

“This allocation is channelled to 74 Orang Asli villages and managed by 62 tok batin throughout the state, and it is provided annually.

“I hope all tok batin will use the funds wisely for the benefit of the Orang Asli communities in their respective areas,” he said.
