Asean Summit 2025: PLUS advises highway users to plan ahead due to road closures

KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is advising highway users to plan their journeys in advance due to a series of phased road closures in conjunction with the 46th Asean Summit.

It said several stretches along its highways will be temporarily closed, following instructions from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), to facilitate the movement of international delegates throughout the summit.

“The staggered road closures will be implemented from May 23 to May 26, starting at 7am, and on May 28 starting at 8am,” PLUS said in a statement today.

The affected routes include the stretch from KLIA to Putrajaya via the North-South Expressway Central Link (ELITE), Subang to Jalan Duta via the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), and Sungai Buloh to Jalan Duta via the North-South Expressway.

It has taken the necessary steps to ensure smooth traffic operations during the affected period and will work closely with the authorities, especially traffic police, to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of summit delegates on PLUS highways.

Highway users travelling to or from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the Subang RMAF Airbase are advised to plan ahead to avoid delays.

PLUS also urged motorists to follow the instructions of traffic personnel on-site and to use alternative routes where necessary to prevent congestion.

For the latest traffic updates, users may refer to the PLUS app, X (formerly Twitter), Variable Message Signs (VMS) at selected highway locations, official JSPT/PDRM social media platforms, or navigation apps like Google Maps and Waze for more efficient route planning.
