Rawang state assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat said the same allocation was also used to construct a new drain in front of Masjid Nurul Iman, Batu 18, to resolve the issue of water pooling during rainfall.
“For those two junctions, accidents frequently occurred because road users were making illegal U-turns. Therefore, we applied to the Public Works Department (JKR) in December last year.
“Due to the complaints, they installed flexible poles and no U-turn signboards to prevent motorists from breaking the rules and to reduce accidents.
“In addition, with funds under the allocation of Selayang MP William Leong, a drain was also constructed to ensure smoother water flow and to prevent water stagnation during rain, which could endanger road users,” he said during a special press conference at Taman Bersatu today.
Chua added that his office is committed to resolving issues related to road upgrades, especially at high-risk junctions that could lead to fatal accidents.

“So far, we have identified nine areas between Rawang and Batu Arang where accidents frequently occur due to illegal U-turns, and we have managed to complete nearly 80 per cent of the infrastructure upgrading work,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gombak JKR Assistant Civil Engineer Mohd Azmi Saad said the department always welcomes input or complaints from elected representatives to help improve infrastructure, particularly on Federal roads.
“The suggestions or complaints we receive are indeed helpful in enabling us to deliver the best service while ensuring the safety of road users.
“Going forward, several roads will also undergo infrastructure upgrades, which are currently in the application process,” he said.
