OSAKA, May 9 — Tourism Selangor’s participation in the Malaysia Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 Osaka is set to strengthen the promotion of the state’s Visit Selangor Year campaign and drawing greater interest from Japanese tourists.
Its chief executive officer Chua Yee Ling said they received positive feedback from visitors who expressed interest in the tourism products offered in Selangor.

She is also confident that the ongoing Visit Selangor Year 2025 campaign will support efforts to achieve the target of eight million visitors and RM11.7 billion in tourism receipts.
“Within the first two weeks of the World Expo, it attracted over a million visitors. This makes Tourism Selangor’s participation here especially valuable,” Chua told Media Selangor.
The agency is also collaborating with industry players in Japan on cultural exchange programmes, as part of efforts to boost tourist arrivals from the Land of the Rising Sun.
She said the efforts include business-to-business (B2B) dialogue sessions with industry players in collaboration with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) during the World Expo.
“As a result, travel agencies from three prefectures in Japan have agreed to become our sister cities and participate in cultural exchange programmes,” Chua said.
Selangor is participating alongside the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry in organising the Malaysia Pavilion at the World Expo, which involves the participation of 161 countries.
The week-long programme showcases Selangor as a future-ready state that is globally connected, competitive, and driven by technology, culture, and youth.
