Keadilan women’s school a catalyst for female empowerment, leadership

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — The Women’s School (SWAN), an initiative by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s women’s wing, has high potential as a catalyst to empower women and nurture them into knowledgeable, visionary, and outstanding leaders.

Keadilan Women head Fadhlina Sidek said SWAN is not only committed to achieving at least 30 per cent female representation in decision-making roles, but also to ensure women contribute meaningfully to national development.

“While the gender gap continues to narrow in areas such as education and workforce participation, women’s involvement in politics and leadership remains low.

“SWAN was established nearly a year ago to empower women in social activism and human capital development.

“It is being implemented with great care, backed by a well-structured framework. The principal oversees smooth operations, while the teaching staff are experts in their respective fields,” said the education minister in a Facebook post today.

Fadhlina, who is also Nibong Tebal MP, said SWAN welcomes participation from people of all ages, backgrounds, and political affiliations.

She said that throughout the programme, participants are exposed to a wide range of modules, covering politics, democracy, human-centred economics, communication, law, personality development and presentability.

“It may still be too early to measure SWAN’s full impact. What matters most is that the initiative continues. The effects of education take time, commitment and sustained effort,” she said.

SWAN was launched by Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail on May 7, 2024, in Putrajaya.
