SHAH ALAM, April 26 — State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu has encouraged Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers to pursue their studies in skill-based institutions to build a better future.
He congratulated the students who achieved straight A’s in the recently announced SPM examination results, which reflected their hard work and dedication.

"Not only that, but also the unwavering support of parents, teachers, and the surrounding community. You are all the pride and hope of the state and the nation!" Papparaidu said in a statement today.
Mindful of those who did not manage to attain excellent results in the examinations, he said that academic failure is not the end of everything, as a second chance is always available to build a bright future through various alternative pathways.
"The state government, together with relevant agencies, offers a variety of skills programmes, technical training, and vocational education through institutions.
"They include the Selangor Technical Development Centre, the Human Resource Development Corporation, the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training, as well as GiatMARA and the Industrial Training Institute," Papparaidu said.
He urged students interested in Technical and Vocational Education and Training to contact the institutions to obtain further information regarding the courses offered in various fields.
"They include information technology, engineering, automotive, design, welding, electrical, refrigeration and air-conditioning (HVAC), mechatronics, pastry, women’s fashion design, beauty therapy, hospitality and culinary arts, as well as many other skill-based courses on offer.
"I urge all students, regardless of your SPM results, to keep moving forward with high spirits and resilience. Education is not just about academics, but also about building skills, character, and a better future," Papparaidu said
The 2024 SPM results released on Thursday (April 24) indicated a higher national average grade than in previous years, achieving 4.49 points compared to 4.60 in 2023, with almost all states recording improvement.
